Wyldewood Cellars

Wyldewood Cellars Winery, the largest and most awarded winery in Kansas!  After Celebrating their 20th Anniversary in 2015, they began 2016 with over 500 International awards and titles to their credit. This small, family owned business, was begun in 1995 as the way for the brother and sister team of Dr. John Brewer and Merry Bauman to "make the family farm pay". They have since gained their place on the world stage of wines - with two Professional International Wine Judges and Winemakers now on staff - Dr. John and Merry's son - Shawn Ramos.  A scientist, John had been making wines as a hobby for years.  The nostalgia of Elderberry Wine, and the acres of elderberries on their mom's ranch, was the start of 8 years and 200 formulas - to develop a world class wine made from elderberries.   Beginning with Elderberry wines, they now have over 40 wines - made from fruits, berries, and some incredible grape varieties.  Their Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Wine - just won Double Gold in an international competition.  They definitely have FUN with their wines, and proudly say they "Make wines that TASTE good!"   It is not just about the awards at Wyldewood Cellars, it is more about making wines that people really enjoy.

The winery was originally in a rented historical building in Mulvane, Kansas. On January 28, 1999, at 8:47 pm the the call came that the winery was on fire. Due to faulty wiring in another business in the same building, the winery and three other businesses were burned to the ground.  The new winery opened next to I-35 on Black Friday of 1999.  The whole family worked together tirelessly to build and open the new facility - expanded thru the years.  You will find - today - up to four generations working at the winery, and Dr. John and Merry still there every day.  Come by for a visit, and sample the wines for free!
